Many, many of you know Elizabeth Metz from various art groups, swaps and online over the years. What you may not know is-she and her husband John lost everything in the tornados that went through Nebraska the other day. They have literally only have the clothes on their backs and their 3 dogs. Thank the GODS their dogs were found alive and are safe with them now. But they need our support to help rebuild their lives, and right now that means CASH MONEY. Please read the following with some paypal, Vet and gift card info and join the group to get more updates and info. And please repost to any and all groups you think could help. PLEASE NOTE: at this time NO physical items can be accepted as the pressing matter is going through rubble and getting what they can, then finding a new place to live. THANK YOU ALL for reading, helping and sharing! https://facebook/groups/253535661437128/ From Nanette Day-- E and J are in Pilger all afternoon trying to salvage anything they can before more rain hits tonight. Cash and Wilford have been seen by a vet. Cash has some hip issues that will require monitoring. Wilbur had minor wounds on head. The most pressing needs at this point are: 1) Money for gas (driving back and forth to Pilger is about one tank each trip), phone minutes, rent, and deposit in order to move into a new location ASAP. They do have a temporary location offered to them, but once they are able to take stock of everything, they will have to move again. So they not only need money for the immediate here and now, but also for a more long-term solution in the coming weeks. Elizabeth has been trying to get her utility and rent deposits back, but they going is slow and she might not get that money for weeks at this point. If you want to help with this, please send donations via PayPal (artgirl@gmail). A bank account is being set up this afternoon if you prefer to mail checks. I will update this post once we have that information. 2) Money for clothes, toiletries, etc. Yes, the woman who never wears pants now has no pants. The irony. (Sorry, everyone is alive. Time for me to laugh a bit when I can.) You can give money or email gift cards to Target or WalMart ONLY to the artgirl@gmail address. Please note that this area is limited in stores. Target and WalMart are the only stores accessible to them at this time (and I believe both offer electronic gift cards so they can use them immediately to buy toiletries, etc.). 3) Help paying the vet bills. The vets office is Norfolk Veterinary Clinic, (402) 371- 5665, norfolkvetclinic@gmail -- please contact them directly to make donations. Many people have offered to send packages of household items, dog food, etc. Once her living situation is stabilized, I will update with a needs list and a mailing address, but that could take a day or two (or even a week or so -- we just dont know how everything is going to play out at this point). Her landlords in Pilger have already been in communication with their insurance company, and E and J have talked to on-site reps from local and state rescue agencies. They have received the same message, over and over: They do not qualify for any aid, help, or support (other than on-site help while sifting through the debris). Please share this information with all of her communities. E and J are alive and safe, their dogs are all alive (miraculously so!), and they are working at finding what few moments of stability they can. Also, E is trying to respond to everyones posts, but they do not have access to the internet, and this morning when I started posting info about Wilbur and Cash, I had more than 1000 notifications in an hour. It is going to take her a long, long time to work through her FB and email notifications. Please be patient and know that she is tremendously touched by the outpouring of love and support from every single one of you.
