Many, many years ago when I started my family my grandma gave me two white ceramic bowls from an old store called Mervyns (gosh she loved that store) along with a cherished recipe for her Broccoli Cheese Rice Cassarole. You see every year growing up that was my favorite dish and I would wait for grandma to call me to lick the cheesy goodness from the mixing spoon. I cherished the holidays with her and the times we got to spend together. Standing here today in my kitchen teaching Ivy how to make great grandmas casserole with the same white mixing bowls brings a warmth to my heart and tear to my eye. I miss her dearly and wish so much to have her here today with us. As we gather with our families, give thanks for those whose hand you can still hold, whose neck you can still hug, and whose kiss you can still receive.
