Many may not realize this but 9/11 has a significant impact on my life and history. Aside from being born in New York city and proud of my American heritage a far greater impact to my families life happened as a result of that tragic day. Only a few weeks after the tragedy my mother had a scheduled visit with her sisters and nieces in California. Unaware of the changes in policy by TSA following 9/11, my mother was unable to bring her diabetes medication on board with her. Furthermore she was unable to fill a new prescription in the few days she was in California. Almost immediately after my mother returned from California, she entered into a diabetic coma and passed soon after as a result. The loss of a mother leaves a hole in your life unable to be filled in any other way. I miss my mother terribly every day. So today I remember my mother as well as all those effected by the tragedies of September 11, 2001
