Many moons ago, well the early 1990s to be exact, Channel 4 used to be worth watching. One of its great programmes was called Jaccuse. This 30 minute programme would give a journalist the opportunity to mount an attack on a cultural icon - these included Mother Theresa, vegetarians, John Lennon, Manchester United, so on. Sometimes, the programmes hit the mark, sometimes not, but the key thing was that it made you re-evaluate icons that seem untouchable. Coming to the point of this diatribe. First of all, I like Russell Brand. His comedy is very edgy and he has a personality to suit. However, his Newsnight interview last week, I felt left him open to the charge of hypocrisy and the blog below, I do feel hits home the point.
