Many of my posts about my journey with LBD are intended to bring insight into the lives of persons with dementia, care partners and other interested parties about the various aspects of this disease through the life of someone who is living the disease. I hope that the person with dementia reading these posts will realize they are not alone. Many of these individuals have expressed appreciation for my posts and indicated they could now explain to their families what they were experiencing. Caregivers have expressed they never had any idea what their loved one was experiencing and feeling. They have indicated to me that these posts give them a better understanding. Interested parties have indicated they realize more and more families are being affected by dementia. The World Health Organization stated in 2012 there were 36 million persons living with dementia. Projections for 2030 are 66 million. Projections for 2050 are 110 million. Global cost of care are reported at 604 billion dollars. There is a new case of dementia every 4 seconds. Even though there is no textbook, we are learning through experience.
