Many of our patients are hearing about the Veterans Choice Program being implemented throughout the VA. The Choice Program will not impact your existing VA health care or any other VA benefit. Depending of the situation, some patients have options to receive non-VA health care rather than waiting for a VA appointment or traveling to a VA facility. If youre satisfied with your wait time at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center or Community Based Outpatient Clinic, and wish to continue VA care, there is nothing you need to do at this time. Every Veteran will eventually receive a letter and a Choice Card in the mail with details about the program. Non-VA care is only covered by VA for medical needs which have been approved by your VA physician.
