Many of the searches CARDA deploys on never make it to the news, - TopicsExpress

Many of the searches CARDA deploys on never make it to the news, but the work we do is still critical to the family members of the missing. For instance, in August we have experienced a tremendous influx in requests from California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for dog search teams in several counties. Through the states mutual aid system, CARDAS volunteer dog teams supplement the efforts and resources of existing in-county search responses. Both tracking/trailing dogs and wilderness area dogs have demonstrated what they are trained to do - find the lost and missing. Here are just four examples in recent months where CARDA dog Teams have made a difference by working successfully in partnership with other volunteer and law enforcement agencies. • In Solano County, Alyson Hart and Gig located the missing person (alive and well). • In Contra Costa County, Sonya Roth and Ammo located the missing person (alive and well). • In Nevada County, Lori Powers and Moxie located the missing person (deceased). • In Butte County, Robyn Berwick and Taz located the missing person (deceased). These searches represent only the most visible part of the time and effort invested by mission ready dog teams to serve the public in California.
