Many of the thoughts and ideas, especially concerning recreational facilities and events being discussed were in the not too distant past under the purview of the service clubs (Lions, Kinsmen, Rotary) who organized, fundraised, provided volunteer labour etc. Participation in service clubs has been declining for years and yet there is an obvious need for the services they provide(d). What are the reasons people are not becoming involved in these organizations? As we tackle the projects suggested in these posts, what are the costs and benefits of creating new organizational structures versus joining existing service clubs and driving change from within them? Are there any members of the service clubs in this group who would like to share works in progress?
