Many of us demonstrate leadership qualities that are recognized more by our professors and peers than ourselves. The APhA Student Leadership Awards, supported by Procter and Gamble, provide APhA-ASP chapters with the opportunity to nominate student pharmacists that demonstrate outstanding leadership ability. Alicia Yeh from APhA-ASP University of the Pacific Chapter is one of our outstanding leaders whose qualities were noticed by her peers. She shares with us her reaction as she learned she would be receiving the award at the 2014 APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition: Often it seems like we are merely a drop in the ocean, but even one drop can make a ripple. To be recognized with the APhA Student Leadership Award was completely unexpected. It was evidence that my actions on the local level started an even bigger ripple, reaching beyond the immediate community. Each chapter has student pharmacists whose leadership creates a ripple effect in the community. Nominations for the APhA Student Leadership Awards are due November 1st.
