Many of us have had the privilege of having a pet in our home as a family member. We have had several over the years and each one brought something special to our house. Many memories are formed around the pets that have given us so much love. With that in mind today we will pause and remember that 3 years ago today we had to allow our pet Chow named Mollie to be put down. She was but 11 years old but had become very ill as the cancer in her stomach ravaged her and prevented her eating or drinking. It was an absolute necessity that we allow the Vet to take care of her illness in a humane manner. Mollie came to us from our good friends Lori and her sister Lisa. She was the most gentile and loving creature you could ever ask for. She did not bark very often but when she did it was a very authoritative sounding bark. She remained in the yard on her own without restraints. Even a cat wandering around did not cause her to give chase or leave our property boundaries. She was content and happy in her home and had no intention of leaving. Frances told me of her evening routine of laying in different locations if I did not return from work at the expected time. Seems about each 15 minutes or so required a new location closer and closer the the garage door. She knew I would be home and walk through that door at any minute. She is missed and stories of her antics are often retold as if they occurred just yesterday.
