Many of us keep an eye on our health by “watching” what we put on our plates. We watch all the time—we watch the pasta pile up, we watch the deep fried chicken sizzle, we watch the gravy run—you get the idea. What we must do is CHANGE what we eat—one day at a time. If you’re about to wrap up the 2-week detox with us, congratulations; but if you wandered off the sugar-and-grain-free path or didn’t even get started on it, don’t sweat about it or beat yourself up. Health is a journey and we all take a few pit stops when we are traveling. Just get back on the road and eventually you’ll get where you’re wanting to be—at an achievable level of optimal health. Today is a new day. Jumpstart it by keeping your eye out for the foods that are known to be problematic for mold and mycotoxins. Here’s List #2 of our Top Ten Mycotoxic Foods: 1. Dried fruits—if drying time is slow, mold can form. 2. Cranberries—they harvest them in bogs, float them in water or water them with sprinklers in the stores. Where there’s a sufficient source of water and a food source, there is mold. 3. Soda pops—many of them contain mold to enhance flavors 4. Coconut and coconut oil—if they are made from dried coconuts 5. Tree nuts 6. Soy Sauce—mold is added as a flavor enhancer 7. Vitamins B—unless the manufacturer states it is from a vegetable source, it is derived from a fungus 8. Bananas 9. Rice 10. Pepper—all but red pepper (cayenne) For more information on food, mold and mycotoxins, see MOLD: The War Within.
