Many of us remember the old Clint Eastwood classic, The Outlaw - TopicsExpress

Many of us remember the old Clint Eastwood classic, The Outlaw Josey Wales. By far, one of my favorites! There was a scene in the movie with Josey and Chief Ten Bears, talking about a truce. I aint promising you nothing extra. Im just giving you life and youre giving me life. And Im saying that men can live together without butchering one another, said Josey. Ten Bears replied, Its sad that governments are chiefed by the double-tongues. There is iron in your word of death for all Comanche to see. And so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron, it must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life. That day, they both chose life. What about us? In making a covenant with His people, God made an interesting statement. He said, I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live . . .. Its amazing that some people consciously choose death. But that is essentially what we do when we decide to go against God and His Word. Its also kind of sad that we dont hear much about sin and repentance anymore. Heres the thing - because of the short-term pleasures sin brings, we often dont think of its long-term repercussions. We may pray, we may try to draw close to the Lord, but the sin we have not dealt with must be confessed before we can find the forgiveness God wants us to experience. God does and God will forgive sin! He can and will forgive our sin. Right now. So today - lets choose forgiveness, lets choose LIFE.
