Many of us with Ankylosing Spondylitis go years without a firm diagnosis, some even go decades....I even know of a person who went a lifetime. It is especially hard for those of us who are women, and for those of us who are gene negative, and who do NOT respond to any of the gene therapies like humira, enbrel, remicade, or the like. This leads to a LOT of doubt over our diagnosis, within ourselves, and from those around us...whether we really do have this mysterious disease, or if it is just something else. That is why it is a truly amazing thing when we are given that AH-HA moment...that moment when we know in our hearts that YES I NOW KNOW I DO IN FACT HAVE AS, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.
