Many of you have asked (via inbox messages) for my thoughts on a recent New York Post article severely criticizing The Biggest Loser (quoting two former contestants who characterized their time on the show as extremely negative and damaging). Having read the article myself, I can only say that, while Im really sorry that they seemed to have such a poor experience with the show, my own could not have been more different! Though I obviously can’t speak to how things were (or were not) done on previous seasons of the show, I can honestly say that my own journey with The Biggest Loser has been one of the the single BEST experiences of my life so far! From Day One until now, I have never once been treated with anything other than love and respect by everyone involved in any aspect of the production—all of whom always seemed to have my best interests at heart! Everyone connected with the show—from producers, casting, and crew members to my trainers and fellow cast mates—has been like “family” to me! (Many of you have commented that this season has seemed remarkably free of the “drama” characterizing past seasons; having been there, I can assure you that has indeed been the case! We have ALL been like family!) As far as the “health” aspects of the show—again, I have no way of knowing how things were done on previous seasons, but can honestly say that, from the very beginning of my experience with BL, I have always been encouraged to do things on this journey in the healthiest way possible. My trainer (Jen Widerstrom) has never allowed me to do anything that she couldn’t put her own personal “stamp of approval” on and we have been closely monitored by physicians and additional athletic training staff every step of the way. Hard work and dedication has been what this has all been about from the beginning; never once have I been encouraged to take any unhealthy shortcuts. I cannot overemphasize the fact that I have been treated with nothing but the greatest respect throughout this entire process and, while nothing can ever compare to my personal relationship with Christ (Who has enabled me to do ALL THINGS in the first place), I will be forever grateful for the opportunity Ive been given to take this journey with The Biggest Loser! I can say without any hesitation whatsoever that it has not only TRANSFORMED my life, it’s SAVED my life! #forevergrateful #LoveBiggestLoser
