Many of you hopefully heard of Prof. John Dewey, an educationist and philosopher. He argued that education and philosophy overlap. No philosophy can survive without education and no education can serve the values without philosophy. He said education is not something to spectator but to participate. For him education becomes progressive when it focuses on professionalism. I fully agree with this world view of him about education. Education has two aspects. One, it finds solution to the problem by way of problem solving approach. Second, it always believes on reflective methods, i.e. critical approach. It analyses problems from multiple disciplines. See our situation, it is being destroyed. We are in the name of educating people trying to parrot students. Education is continuing process. It is not a process of collecting merely degrees. It is a process of human growth. It makes human being differently so that process of change can be made more secured. Our universities have no passion of research. The political parties have made universities a cow shed. We need to rescue our universities. The study of philosophy should be enhanced. In the meantime, we have to add aesthetic components in our education. So that people start loving values, without which life like bitter guard. Let us go for deeper debate.
