Many of you know this particular issue hits incredibly close to home for me. For those of you who didnt, now you do. In an earlier post I asserted my belief that trans people deserve safety and happiness. Sadly this is disproportionally not the case. I am posting this petition because it is a real and tangible opportunity to force the White House to consider and respond to critical trans issues. Why this particular petition? Well, it isnt just going to melt away into cyberspace. It is an official petition on the White House homepage set up to adhere to the portion of the First Amendment in which citizens have the right to petition their government. As a part of this, the White House agrees to issue an official response to petitions with more than 100,000 signatures. This petition urges the President to consider legislation that would protect transgender children and teens from being forced to undergo conversion therapy.
