Many of you may be familiar with the First Lady Michelle Obamas new initiative focused on post-secondary access and completion with an emphasis on under-served youth. As part of the First Lady’s effort to encourage youth to reach higher and pursue higher education, she will visit San Antonio, Texas Friday to speak at the city’s Fourth Annual College Signing Day at the University of Texas. In her keynote remarks, the First Lady will highlight the significance of pursuing and completing a form of higher education and the importance of students doing their part to “Reach Higher” in support of the President’s ‘North Star’ Education Goal that by the year 2020, America will once again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world. In an effort to inspire youth across the country to consider applying to college, folks across the country are encouraged to wear their college gear. It can be as simple as a hat or tie – anything to help get the word out. As role models in your community, join this effort and wear college apparel on Friday.
