Many of you no doubt remember bluesman Ira T. Tommy White (I always just call him Ira T.) He experienced a stroke three years ago and is still staying at the VA hospital in Dublin. One side is still paralyzed, but he seems to be on the mend, and his spirits are good -- and his cracker-barrel philosophy is as sharp and funny as ever. He used to be a Waffle House regular, and he referred to his coffee buddies there as the Einstein Club -- they think they know everything, but they dont know squat. He enjoys the ministrations of the pretty, young nurses. He said, Dollbaby, I am a scoundrel. Ill get out of here -- I still got women to chase. He always wore an almost preacherly business suit, along with a handlebar mustache and a ponytail down to his rear. It was his statement that you can indeed move between the straight world and the freaky fringe.
