Many of you will be familiar with the legislative efforts we have been are working on here in Washington State. If not here is the scoop. In Washington State, unlike in many other states throughout the nation, Zaycon Foods has been classified as a restaurant type of operation, and as such we have to acquire all related permits and pay all related fees to deliver your food to you. The expense is significant, and honestly the mounting costs we face are making it almost impossible for us to continue to operate in our beloved home state! Obviously we are not a restaurant: we do not cook your food for you, and as a matter of fact the Federal Department of Agriculture has classified us as a “pass through” food delivery service. They are not sure why the Washington State Department of Health has classified us as a restaurant. Neither are we. With that said, we can at least report that we’ve had great success working with our members of congress as we advocate for the passage of House Bill 6388, which will classify us as a pass through company just like the Federal Department of Agriculture has. Here is where the urgency comes in… here is where YOU come in! For some unknown (political) reason, HB 6388 is being held up in the Rules Committee. The Bill is expected to be met with strong support and will almost surely pass, but if it does not get released from the Rules Committee by 5pm Pacific Time TODAY… it won’t get to the House floor for a vote. We need your help in Washington State. Please call to urge these committee members to put this bill to the house floor for a vote.
