Many people are talking about about love, these days, but few really live as though they understand what this words means. In other words, “love” is a word that is thrown around rather loosely. So what does it mean to love, anyway? The Bible has much to say on this subject! Here are some encouraging verses to give deeper insight into this incredible word. Romans 12:9-10 NLT “Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” James 1:26-27 NLT “If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” Ephesians 4:31-32 NLT “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” John 13:34 NLT “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” John 15:13 ESV “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” Deuteronomy 15:7-8 NASB “If there is a poor man with you, one of your brothers, in any of your towns in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.” Galatians 6:2 ESV “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
