Many people are unfamiliar with Arthur Russell, a talented avant-garde composer, singer-songwriter, cellist, and disco producer, who collaborated with Philip Glass and Allen Ginsberg, and directed music events in the 70s at The Kitchen in NYC. Before his untimely death from AIDS in 1992, Arthur prolifically created music that spanned both pop and the transcendent possibilities of abstract art.
