Many people ask me; How Autistic is Atari? (My Son) Well, thats a great question! Atari had a few diagnosis against him- which makes him vary in the ASD Spectrum- which he kicks butt against! Ataris speech and comprehension of conversation isnt structured at all... He has what is called a Learning Disability, and Speech Developmental Delay. We try to keep it simple with Atari- very simple, and allow him to try.. But, I cannot help to prompt him for the elements of social ness. Atari also shows sever signs of ADHD- he cannot stand still, sit still or keep his hands to himself, and his mind RACES faster than most He is fascinated by sounds and lights- as this gets him over stimulated.. He also has Global Developmental Delay that effects his- Auditory Regulation/Over Stimuli Sensory issues. His core and manual dexterity is poor, yet he trys very hard to give anything a go! Included in all of this, Atari also has an intellectual disability.. And he is kicking his personal bests every day! He surprises Me, his Dad and his Teachers... He can be very coy and convincing in his play ups.. Its enjoyable to watch, yet sometimes devastating to discipline! The one spectacular thing with Atari is, he give everything he can a real amazing try.. And it absolutely breaks my heart each day! He is a very amazing young man, he has the build of a giant, but the heart of an angel... My son, my shining star... I love you!
