Many people do not understand how much an animal can become part of your family, when you tell someone my dog or cat has cancer or my pet died many people say well it was just an animal No, they are family. My cat was sick with cancer and it made him weak and in pain, he was such a loving cat, all he wanted was to snuggle and be petted. The reality of euthanasia is that you know you are doing the right thing so your pet does not hurt anymore... Being with my cat in his last moments and laying my head on him after he passed was a very emotional moment for me, but knowing he is no longer in pain is what helps me to cope with it.
