Many people have got pretty good at filtering out what they think are negative distractions. For instance many conscious minded people would not be seen dead reading the Daily Mail or The Sun. But where does filtering out the negative become confirmation bias - ie the tendency to seek only that which supports your views, rejecting everything else, regardless of merit? Cos its obvious like that if you are liberal and conscious and open man you only read the Guardian, right? This kind of hypocrisy is an iron bar across any chance of actual growth and development. Not convinced? Here is a typically snide, inaccurate and condescending article from said paper.
