Many people have mentioned to me they think Suboxone should be the next prescription medication reclassified as a C-II. They also want my opinion. This is a very lengthy article that does a great job of making a case. As with all of these prescription medication (and prescriber) issues, we as pharmacists are on the front lines and we are the first to notice when something is amiss. However, as is also true, it takes forever to effect change. Maybe WE could start with petitions to OUR State Boards asking them to reclassify this on their own. Look at the graphic that shows how many prescribers are allowed to write for this and how many have had previous issues.
