Many people talk about conservation of biodiversity, in particular agri crop genetic material conservation. I assure you if you follow my reasons and words here you too will be the witness to very good yield from indigenous varieties. It is my own experience. I am not sharing anything from others experience here. My dear friends local landraces or indigenous materials of any agri crop or forest species have several advantages for farmers while growing those. First advantage is those are resilient to environmental vagaries and pest infestations. These two problems are very common. Second one is those are mostly choosen by our ancestors as per the requirement of our food type and test. Third one is they are suitable to the land type where we grow. These three reasons are very important to care for our culture and food security. Unfortunately those yield very low because we don to care for their purity. Farmers usually do not bother about their growth. Those also require scientific treatments and individual plant care. Those require good manuring in field to gain nutritional sufficiency for their growth. Pure and healthy seed from indigenous genetic crop materials must be multiplied to gain control over looming hunger in India. No need to go for chemical inputs. We are still self-sufficient to have household manure and create good environment of forest which are two best conditions to get good nutrition for healthy growth of our crop genetic resources. These crops can give wonderful yield which may compete with hybrid seeds of different crops. Our genetic materials do not need chemical treatment rather those need our care and organically prepared nutrition and pest controls.
