Many political parties and organisations have been demanding reduction of of bus-fares in Karnataka rightly soon after the significant reduction of diesel prices. But GoK is not heeding to people demands. Did you know: - BMTC has increased the bus fares thrice in the last 3 years. BMTC has always been using the increase in diesel price as an excuse for the hike in bus fares. - Diesel prices have come down by at least Rs 6 in the last few weeks. - BMTC Bus fares are costliest in the country due to Corruption and Mismanagement? - We demand CAG audit of BMTC & KSRTC. - Lower fares encourages more and more people to avoid private vehicles. - Increase the number of non-AC Buses to benefit Low Income Group. Public Transport System is not for profit making. It is for public good. Government should exempt RTC and BMTC from paying taxes and free bus passes for the students should be borne by the government. So, on 12th Nov 2014, at 4.00 PM AAP Karnataka will begin a Protest in front of BMTC Head Office at Shantinagar, Bangalore demanding the reduction in BMTC Bus fares.
