Many say that we must mature beyond the Cross and move on to the meat of the Word. But Jesus said “My meat is to do the will of the Father” (John 4:34) speaking of what He would do on the Cross, and so it is for us as well, the Cross is meat for proper growth. Jesus said “Except you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood (all of which speaks of a daily partaking of the Sacrifice ~the Cross~ by faith, Luke 9:23), ye have NO LIFE in you” (John 6:53). Do you want to mature yourself away from “LIFE”?? God forbid! We don’t grow away from the Cross, we grow at the Cross. Our maturity is determined by how much we understand the Cross and what was accomplished there for us. This is the reason we must position ourselves in a church that is persistently preaching the Message of the Cross according to Scripture, anything else is a ministry of death.
