Many still do not realise or even believe that the account of lazarus and the rich man is a Parable. it is. The following is a list of all the Parables that Jesus discussed. Notice that nowhere else in the Word are these accounts spoken of....because they are invented stories that always have a point. They were used by Jesus to teach His listeners something and he spoke in Parables to fulfil prophesy. Matthew 13:34-35 34 All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable. 35 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: I WILL OPEN MY MOUTH IN PARABLES; I WILL UTTER THINGS HIDDEN SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD. Here is a list of those parables: 1. Defining the Kingdom of Heaven 2. The Parable of the Sower 3. The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares 4. The Parable of the Growing Seed 5. The Parable of the Mustard Seed 6. The Parable of the Leaven 7. The Parable of the Hidden Treasure 8. The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price 9. The Parable of the Dragnet 10. The Parable of the Householder 11. The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant 12. The Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard 13. The Parable of the Two Sons 14. The Parable of the Wicked Vinedressers 15. The Parable of the Wedding Feast 16. The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins 17. The Parable of the Talents 18. The Parable of the Two Debtors 19. The Parable of the Good Samaritan 20. The Parable of the Friend at Midnight 21. The Parable of the Rich Fool 22. The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree 23. The Parable of Taking the Lowest Place 24. The Parable of the Great Supper 25. The Parable of the Lost Sheep 26. The Parable of the Lost Coin 27. The Parable of the Lost Son (the Prodigal Son) 28. The Parable of the Unjust Steward 29. The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus 30. The Parable of the Unprofitable Servants 31. The Parable of the Persistent Widow 32. The Parable of the Tax Collector and the Pharisee 33. The Parable of the Minas These accounts are NOT real. They are stories or narratives taken from nature or from everyday human experiences. The story of The Rich Man and Lazarus is a parable that teaches certain undeniable truths. First, judgment awaits everyone after death -- a judgment in which some will be lost and some will be saved. Second, no one can change their fate following death -- they are either saved eternally or lost eternally. Third, wealth will not save us and finally, the dead do not return to warn the living -- we are warned from God’s Word alone. ONLY in Luke is this parable found. Abrahams Bosom is not talked about or described anywhere else in the Word. God never told ANY bible author to write about Abrahams bosom....that is why it is only talked about by jesus...as are all parables. The Jews were teaching that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob ruled over an underworld, called Abrahams Bosom ...based on the ancient Greeks myth of the underworld, ruled over by the god Hades. This takes a mere quick investigation....to see that the myth of Abrahams Bosom makes this account a story....an invention...a teaching tool. That is all. Blessed are they who rightly divide the true Word of the Lord.
