Many thanks for the group acceptance. I am posting this here on the suggestion of Dave Champion. Firstly, the cap was sticky when wet, more especially the less mature specimen. I think (?) this indicates one of the wax caps, but am not certain if other species might do the same? Growing in a pot immediately under an Oak tree - the actual substrate is medium-sized gravel on top of weed suppressing membrane! General compost underneath. I am not sure whether the growing through the stones has caused the edge and shape distortions of the caps, or if that is its natural habit? Smelled very mushroom tasted the same, not bitter or exceptional. No ring on stem. Flesh did not discolour after cutting or pressing. Spore print appears to be very pale brown - but specimen was wet, so maybe simply the fungi itself being squashed onto glass - not sure Ive got much skill here yet. Scale should be evident (I hope) by presence of ruler in some photos. There is still one specimen growing in the pot as of today 14.11.2014
