Many thanks to Dan Frost for this. WRx Just thought you might be interested in this... My name is Dan Frost, I live in a town called Verwood in Dorset. My father is a fire fighter stationed at North Kensington in London and so, as Im sure you can imagine, I often hear about the sorry situation our public services are in and in particular, obviously, the fire service. That being said a perfect example of how our governments actions and, in my opinion, dreadful decision making are directly affecting peoples lives was brought to light this week. Sadly an elderly lady had a fall outside Tesco in my home town. After being quickly attended to and helped by several members of the public and shop staff, an ambulance was quickly called. They were told that an ambulance was on its way and so they did there best to make sure the lady was comfortable and warm... After 30 minutes of waiting there was still no sign of the ambulance. By this time a police officer and an off duty firefighter were in attendance and were forced to move the lady out of the road to avoid obvious further danger... Something that obviously you wish to avoid until medical staff arrive to minimise the risk of spinal injury. The poor lady had to wait a frankly disgusting hour and a half before the ambulance arrived due to high demand in the area. I am not in the slightest blaming the paramedics, technicians, 999 operators etc I have no doubt that they did the very best they could. So I ask that maybe you share this... Not as a rant about politics and politicians but, I hope, as a wake up call to everyone... I dont know the condition of the lady in this situation, I can only hope she is on her way to making a full recovery and I wish her well! It is not a game. Lives WILL be lost. FACT. Public services are not a luxury, they are a necessity in EVERYday life for EVERYBODY. Money can be saved elsewhere, you only get one chance to save a life, so why are you making it more difficult than it already is?Please please please, stand up, be heard, even if they are reluctant to listen.
