Many thanks to the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation for the $1.8 million grants to install roof-top solar panels on Butterfield and Highland Middle schools this summer - making Libertyville School District 70 Illinois largest solar-powered elementary school district! District 70 will spend $1.6 million on each school to install the panels, contributing $720,000 to each project in district funds that are expected to be saved time after time as the schools create their own electrical power. Once the systems are working, they will be incorporated into classroom curriculum with all the information on the project being web-based. District 70 - saving energy and reducing the carbon footprint all in one project. Here! Here! (More information is posted on our website at d70schools.org.)
