Many times we desire Heaven on earth; we dont want pain, physical ills, poverty, or trouble. It is not surprising that when a Preacher preaches about prosperity, trouble-free life, we flock there en masse. It sounds nice but it is not true because there are no short-cuts to discipleship. In Matthew 17:4-5 Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters – one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. Peter was tired of the earthly life; he wanted the glory he saw to be permanent, but it was only a foretaste of Heaven. When I sing Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. Just like Peter, we may have the right idea in wanting the glory to stay, but we must understand about the wrong timing. We must understand that the cross of shame must come before the Crown of Glory.
