Many times we read or quote verse and focus or read part of the verse. Matthew 6:33 in the NKJV says “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” We focus on seeking the kingdom and all these things shall be added to you, and ready to receive the blessing of God. The middle is very important; we have to seek His righteousness. I read this verse in different translation to get the meaning of what is said with His righteous, the NLT says” live righteously,” the Amplified says “His righteousness (His way of doing and being right).” The scriptures says not to worry, seek the Kingdom and live righteous then all things that I worry about will be added or provide for me. How can I met these requirement when every day I find myself sinning or doing thing not His way or things that are not right every day? God loves us so much that He provided a way to meet the “righteous requirements” that He has set before us. It is by faith in Jesus Christ and the actions He has done for us by taking the punishment for the sin we have done, yesterday, today and in the future. Seeking the Kingdom is seeking the King and submitting to Him living my life not for myself but for Him. How do this look? It is like a man or woman who joins the military and submits to the US government, they give up their life to serve their country. To submit to Christ you give up your life to serve in His Kingdom (government). In the military they will feed you, cloth you and train you. Likewise with the Kingdom of God; so to get this promise and not have worry about the things of life we have to submit to the King which is Jesus and live for Him. For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. (Romans 3:20-24) Pastor Larry Geer
