Many years ago I had the opportunity to fly out of New Orleans, - TopicsExpress

Many years ago I had the opportunity to fly out of New Orleans, Lake Front Air Port, on a sea plane to East Bay Facilities, owned by Shell Oil. I was graciously invited by Mr. Lawton Barton, a church deacon, and a production foreman for the company, to speak once a month at a Tuesday night vespers service where men came for a time of worship and reflection. One trip is still etched in my memory because the pilot flew us through thick clouds on our way down to the gulf. It was the scariest thing I have ever experienced. It was dark and you could not see anything past the windshield. You could not even tell if you were flying upside down or right side up. I remember thinking how much I wanted to see where I was going and prayed that our pilot really knew what he was doing. Thankfully, he did and soon we flew a little higher and ascended above those clouds into the bright sunlight. I don’t know about you, but sometimes life just gets like that for me and I begin to look for the answers to my problems and seek God’s guidance. I have learned now that for me to get God’s wisdom I have to get myself in a spiritual frame of mind where I admit that I am just as concerned about my spiritual life as I was about my physical life in that plane all those years ago. That pilot was the man to depend on in getting out of the fog and into the light. God is ready to bring us out of the fog when we are ready to admit that we cannot get out of the fog without His wisdom. Solomon said, “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding” – Proverbs 3:13. There is nothing in the world that brings more peace and contentment than to receive God’s wisdom in our life and experience the removal of the spiritual darkness that would keep us from moving forward in His will. Please understand that God has told us in His word that we should in all our ways acknowledge Him and He promises to direct our path. Lord, I pray today that you would give me what I do not have and that is your wisdom. AMEN!
