Many years ago I pointed out to NDOT at a Ballantyne breakfast meeting that their own prospective indicated that the vehicle load would double in the time it took to build the additional one lanes each way, which were only adding 50% more capacity, and just moving the merge problem 3 miles further down the road. Adding 50% capacity with 100% more load? Doesnt that just give you more of a congestion problem than before you started the project? What is really needed is not just one more lane each way, but two, all the way East around to where I-485 is already three lanes. We got thrown a bone instead of the real meal we needed.
