Many years ago a man told me, “Nothing is free in this world. You have to work like a dog and provide for yourself and family. Don’t trust the government for any handout, no matter how you hedge your bets. They will always take more than you will ever receive.” That was one of the best pieces of advice I ever received. The only debt I finance, is less than what I can earn on an investment at that given time and/or obligation. I could never imagine asking a community for a blank check. I’m surprised how many are willing to sign it over, because the district needs it or wants it. While I will agree the district currently has needs for new infrastructure and certain other items, they have neglected maintenance issues on many of their properties. They have forced the taxpayers into a corner because of their neglect and irresponsibility. Yet many of these people still hardily welcome their “Bad Behavior.” A vote NO means: Take it back to the drawing board, cut out the pork, and listen to what the voters want. The responsible Katy ISD taxpayers want to see the district become more fiscally responsible with our monies, and less involved with politicking and corporate engagement.
