Many years ago, decades in fact, when I was between 19 and 21 years old, I had the opportunity to see one of the greatest modern day composers and musicians of our time, Yanni, in concert. I got to see him in concert twice in two years, and both times, I talked my way into getting to meet him and speak with him. (I took one of my best friends Marybeth Evangelista Luna to one of them, and while I had to go back to work, I got her in to the after concert get together.) I got to know his tour manager Vincent Corry and he even remembered me years later when I called looking for work. Yanni was wonderfully down to earth, even though on stage he had quite a flair for dramatic presentation. But his music was, and is, his life. He feels it with every fiber of his being, and he shares his incredible passion for his music in the notes and feelings they brought forth. After hearing of the loss of several beloved friends family members recently, both two and four legged, and the loss of a well loved veterinarian & fellow pet blogger friend, it made me think of one particular song of Yannis, called Until the Last Moment. The first time I heard this song was at the first Yanni concert I attended. It made me cry it was so beautiful! That night, in Charlotte, NC, it sounded exactly as it sounds in this video, except better because I was right there experiencing it as he played it live. The conductor, whom I got to meet and speak with that night as well, is named Shardad Rohani from Iran. I remember how excited he was about the music and being able to be a part of this magnificent tour. He plays the violin beautifully and played that night along with the incomparable and amazing Karen Briggs, Violinist Page ll. I am sure this is the longest introduction to a video ever, but here is my main thought. Right before Yanni started playing Until the Last Moment, which to this day is one of my most beloved songs of all times and one I can listed to over and over again, he said this: Sometimes we get caught up in our troubles and our problems and we let life slip away, but life is precious, all of life, and one must try to take in as much of it as possible. ~ Yanni Dont let life slip away friends. Show your loved ones how much they are loved. Find reasons to laugh. And take in as much of the good things in life that bring in real joy as you possibly can.
