Many years ago my mother met a man whom I refer to as Jim socially and guess it was love at first sight,a miracle that very few have the joy of experiencing it.My mother had 4 kids, the oldest was about 16 and he married her with the burden of a readily made family.Jim was a good man and I would hope to be half the man he was.No stretch of imagination to see how expensive raising 4 other kids who never had a good role model of a man.I still remember vividly every detail about the drive back to Fayetteville where we all were dropped of just days before Christmas. In the back was a big cardboard box filled with toys.Jim raised us as his own and he could be strict because he too was a green beret but he never mistreated us.I loved that man more than my father and we did a few jobs together.I got a call about 3am from my mother who was frantic that she couldnt wake him up.We had recently moved into a new home in Lake Lynn and they lived there too,but on the other side which took about 8 minutes to drive.Naturally, there was nothing I could do but comfort Mama.My mother authorized a organ donation outfit some bone and heart valves. We later found out they removed all lomg bones and many other things. When Jim was buried the funeral director had to bury him in 2 weep suits because of the huge incisions.I would never recommend anyone to donate organs and I know many will disagree but I was the one who had to see what happened and I will never forget it.
