Many years ago now I read a review of a book by a woman author, I -think- it was Joanna Russ, but I cant swear to that. What has stuck in my mind is the comment by the male reviewer, This would be a better book without the feminist digressions. Digressions. Side tracks, unnecessary clutter -- thats what the intellectual concerns of the book were to him. Ive seen much more recent but less blatant remarks to the same point by male reviewers, one of them prominent in LOCUS. But at least they try to hide it better. :-)
