Maple Hill 54, Coxsackie-Athens 24 CASTLETON — Maple Hill handed Coxsackie-Athens its first Patroon Conference varsity wrestling loss of the season on Wednesday, as the Wildcats downed the Indians 54-24 at home, according to an email from MH coach Thomas Gibbons. Hill jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, but lost the next three matches to fall behind 15-9. From that point forward, the Wildcats took control and cruised to victory. Joey Merhige, Nick Reese, Bryan Kern, Peter Merhige, Jeremy Morris and Ben Tacy each recorded a pin for MH in the win. Indians’ Joe Califiore, Sean VanFonda and Mason Osborn also recorded pins. With the win, the Wildcats (4-1) move into a tie for second place in the league with the Indians (4-1).
