Mar 13, 2014, 1:58pm HST ‘Hawaii Five-0’ picked up by CBS for 5th season, Garcia joins cast Janis L. Magin Managing Editor- Pacific Business News CBS said Thursday that it has picked up the cop drama “Hawaii Five-0” for a fifth season, while “Lost” alumnus Jorge Garcia is returning to the Islands to join the cast as a series regular. “Hawaii Five-0” was one of 18 prime-time shows, and nine dramas, renewed for the 2014-15 season, CBS said. The show, which films mostly around Honolulu and Oahu, moved to Friday nights last fall, at the start of last season, from its original Monday night slot. Meanwhile, Garcia, who lived in Hawaii during seven seasons of playing Hurley on ABC’s “Lost,” will become a regular cast member, joining Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Garcia has appeared as a guest star on two episodes this season playing conspiracy theorist Jerry Ortega, a former classmate of Chin Ho Kelly, played by Kim. “Hawaii Five-0” Executive Producer Peter Lenkov told THR that the show has “many opportunities planned to put Jerry’s unusual and infectious desire to put the bad guys to good use.”
