March 07, 2014 Matthew 23 *Seven Woes After the Pharisees had left, Jesus turned to His disciples and who was left standing in the crowd and said: You must obey the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees bc they teach you the laws of Moses, but dont do as they do. They do not practice what they preach. They dish out heavy teachings for man, and for show...yet are not willing to follow the words that come out of their mouths. Everything they do is for man, not God. They make their studies long so they can add a tassel to their garments so that gives them credit to be the honors at banquets and also so they can set in the most important seats in the synagogues. At the marketplace, they love to be called Doctor or Rabbi ... but you are not to call them Rabbi nor Doctor because you have only one Master (teacher) and you are all brothers (classmates). And do not call anyone one earth father, for you only have one true Father and He is in Heaven. Nor shall you call anyone teacher, you have one Teacher..the Christ. The greatest amount you will be your servant. For whomever exalt himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Woe to you, teachers of the Law and the Pharisees..you are hypocrites! You shut the door to heaven in mens faces. You yourself will not enter, nor will you let the earnest ones who are trying. Woe to you teachers of the Law and the Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel here and there, land and sea, to win a single convent (one like they are), and when he becomes one..without knowledge, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.......
