March 14, 2014 Cindy Fritch Ezekiel 37:9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” This verse is part of the prophesy of the Dry Bones, the third of four major visions in Ezekiel. This chapter deals with the resurrection of the nation of Israel. The bones earlier in the chapter represent the framework of the nation of Israel coming to life and in this verse the breath, or Spirit of God, gives life to the four winds, or the Israelites that were scattered among the four corners of the earth. We all deal with disappointments, frustrations, accidents or tragedies that leave us feeling hopeless, alone, confused, or broken. The visions and prophesies that we read about in the Bible were a specific way for God to communicate with his people in a way that he thought they would understand. How does God communicate those promises to you to help renew your spiritual life? Is it through Christian music/radio, devotions, prayer, bible reading, or meditation? Is it unintentionally found through a movie on TV, a commercial that you almost forgot to watch, a story in the newspaper, or something your teenager says to you on a “good day”? Prayer: Heavenly Father, you know each of us intimately. During those rough times in life, reach out to us and remind us that what is happening today is just a sentence or two in our life’s story, according to Andy Stanley. The final chapter is eternal life in Heaven. Amen
