March 17, 2014 Romans 5:1-5, “Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.” Father of all we rise this day and praise your Name and give you our thanks for today – you never promised us this wake-up yet here we are – thank you! Thank you for Jesus our Savior for His precious blood paid for our dark sinful lives, granting us hope for eternity that we shall live faithfully into that promise. It is difficult sometimes for us to deal with suffering, sadness and disappointment – it is even more difficult and even tragic to live through it without you Father. Open our hearts to recognize the vital nature of your love for us – that you never leave us in the midst of the storm and trial. We leave you for our fears won’t let us be watchful and attentive when trials come our way – we prone to blame and finger-point when we should be steering a steady and faithful course through the trouble with you at our sides, our back and our front – you compass us. Many have built ‘sufficient character’ without considering that our duty is now to teach your holiness and steadfastness to those who’ve yet to experience the power of your Holy Presence. Remind us this morning Father that our trials are moments of faith, learning and hope not as punishment or tests of endurance for we gain hope and endurance as we faithful face into the wind of trouble with your steadying touch. Father please hear our prayers of thanksgiving for healing and renewal for those this day who feel recovery and renewal. We beg your healing touch for those who are failing and faltering. Comfort those who grieve and mourn. Revive the weak, wavering and weary. Restore the wayward and apostate. Give hope to those who are seeking work and are suffering economic hardship. Assure those whose chronic ailments have left them exhausted and tired. Calm the fears of an anxious world that is scaled by satan’s vicious attacks and surreptitiousness. Drive satan from our governance and our borders; chase him from our houses of worship and from the family circles. Inspire our leaders to follow your Holy Spirit turning away from avarice, power-lust and greed. Bless the students and the educators as they return to the classroom today. Keeps safe, faithful and strong the men and women who serve in our military, police, fire, protective, emergency and medical services throughout our land and the world and their loved ones as they serve. Bless your Holy Church that we will boldly proclaim salvation to the least, last and lost of this world. We pray these prayers in Jesus’ Holy Name. Amen.
