March 17, 2014 – Thoughts about Bullying and Poem We do not always jump out of bed every morning thrilled about the fact that we have to go to school or work. I have had days like this, as I am sure you have too. On days like these, we might not feel like being “kind” either. No one needs to tell us when a teacher, fellow students, a boss or co-workers are not having a good day. We learn early in life to pick up on warning signals, but not always are we taught how to deal with the situation, as when someone is irritable. Often times, a victim of abuse, whether verbal or physical, just happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, and we become easy targets for a bully to release their own frustrations. We might have reasons to be irritated, but never do we have a reason to abuse another person. Those who abuse need to learn the basic universal foundation that will allow them to refrain from lashing out when they are not happy…Kindness! Kindness is a simple word, but not always easy to show, especially if we are not in a good mood or where we want to be. I can remember going to school and walking into the classroom frustrated and angry, and I had already predetermined in my mind that I was not going to co-operate in anyway with my teacher, or when having to do any school work. I wasn’t a bully, but I was not thinking nice thoughts. Somehow my dear teacher sensed my ill-feelings and engaged herself in a soothing and kind conversation with me. When we were done talking, I had totally forgotten that I had been angry. Kindness….can go a long way to helping others rethink their anger. What about you? Have there been times in your life when “Kindness” saved you from having to suffer consequences for your words or action? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst Kindness Let me introduce you to a very simple word, “Kindness” –a word so few people today have heard. Yet when shown, it can make a very big difference on how you feel today. If you know someone who is having a hard time, show them some kindness and do not delay. So often we remember all the bad people do to us, But to move forward in life, remembering kindness and loving gestures is a must. Put the word “Kindness” on your refrigerator and meditate on the word for a while, Then think of several people you may know, who could use a smile. “Kindness” is contagious and unlike a disease, “Kindness” can set hearts on fire, and calm souls like the waves of the sea. Be the first to take the first step today, And show lots of kindness to others as you go about your day. Try it and you will see that it is true, How “kindness” can bring out the very best of you. “Kindness” too, can also bring out the best in others, Start today remembering this simple word, “Kindness”, and let us keep showing “Kindness” to one another.
