March 24, 1993 - You were two weeks overdue, and I had already gained 32kgs at only 22 years of age. I was determined that it was time for you to get out as this hotel room needed vacating! It was so hot in Bondi, so I walked myself down Campbell parade to get an icecream sundae and walked myself back up the hill. Sarah Blakeney came home from work and we lay down on a mattress to watch Pretty Woman as I needed a cry...at 4.20pm, my first contraction occurred - it felt different from the braxton hicks, so we started timing. Like clockwork you came every 20 mins, then 15...and slowly, slowly, slowly - like a careful Arian lady, you took your time. Justin Bird came home at 6.30pm - and watched me struggle around the house, then Melissa Lutton came over and I just wanted you out...at midnight I took us off to the Birth centre at King George IV and again we waited. Justin and Sarah took turns in watching and trying to comfort me. 13.5 hours and a perfect little girl was born.
