He was born August 16, 1927, in Huntington, W.Va., to Delbert and Gladys Gifford Adkins. He was preceded in death by his sisters Thelma Slayton and Iris Basenback. The family who will dearly miss him are his wife of 61 years, Ella Mae Shannon Adkins; his son Randy Adkins and wife Rhonda of Beckley, W.Va. He dearly loved his Matt Adkins and his wife Jessica of Huntington, Erin Collins and her husband Josh of Kenova and Sean Adkins, also of Huntington.
