March 26, 2014 . THE DECEITFULNESS OF MAN . Psalm 36:1-4 I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. . Prague is a very interesting place to visit. A few days ago as we walked along the way and checked out the historical and entertaining places, I could not help but see the deceitfulness and evil of mankind. I saw where sixteen Christian men were martyred for standing against the church. They were beheaded. I saw where John Huss was burned to the stake for loving his God. I saw where a Catholic priest, John Nepomucene, was drowned by the king for not revealing to him his wifes confession. Then I saw where four Orthodox priests and their families were killed for aiding six British soldiers in their attempt to kill the second in command of the Nazi Party. Then came the destruction of Liditz, Czechoslovakia for hiding the six soldiers. In the end, 184 men fifteen years and older were executed; over three hundred women and one hundred children were sent off to die in concentration camps of which only one hundred fifty-three women and seventeen children returned. Then there was the concentration camp in Terezin, one of the largest concentration camps, where tens of thousands died for no other reason than that they were Jewish. I could mention more but these just reminded me of the depravity of man. . I guess if any other group could testify to the depravity of man its the first nations people of the Americas, for what happened among our Indian people throughout the centuries - the death of innocent men, women and children for the sake of expanding a nation westward. David clarified this when he wrote, I have a message from God in my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before their eyes. In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful; they fail to act wisely or do good. Even on their beds they plot evil; they commit themselves to a sinful course and do not reject what is wrong. These passages, along with the history of martyrdom and destruction in the name of God, Government and Kings, just remind us of the depravity of humankind and the evil things one can do when the spirit of God does not control our hearts. A nation without God, or with the wrong concept of God, has no limits to the destruction it can instigate and bring among the innocent.
