March 29, 2014 RUN YOUR RACE WITH FOCUS Today’s journal: Hebrews 12:1-2 . . .Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith . . . Message: Today’s journal Christian’s life compared to a runner who runs the race, God placed us in a race and along the way are obstacles to overcome. The writer encourages believers who were facing great persecution to fix their eyes on the perfect example of the Lord Jesus Christ who overcame lifes toughest obstacles. Promise: You are not alone in the race; the Lord is with you and you are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses cheering you on to endure to the end. Warning: God prohibits or forbids us from running the race with any size, form or shape of weight. Lay aside every weight! Command: To win the race, the Olympian must stay focused on the goal, put forth his very best effort, and stay committed to the task. Application: Beloved, where are you now in the race that God has set before you? Are you presently facing many adversaries and adversities? Then, fix your eyes on Christ, and if you are having trouble focusing on him, ask him to help you to keep your focus.
